RIGHT AND WRONG IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Exodus 20:1 Then God gave the people all these instructions:
2 “I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.
3 “You must not have any other god but me.
If you are anything like me, you become frustrated with a world view that seemingly can’t see that God has provided an absolute right and wrong. Some of the large topics in our culture are being directed by voices that don’t realize or don’t care that God has spoken and has emphatically stated THE TRUTH.
If you attend meetings or read articles on controversial subjects, the loudest voices are ones that believe education and intellect dictate who has the moral high ground. Then the assumption made is they have the correct answers on cloudy but important social issues. Unfortunately, without God’s input their conclusions are based on subjective feelings which they believe are more superior because they also believe they are smarter than the average person.
We further frustrate ourselves by debating or arguing God’s stated truths with people who haven’t been rescued from “Egypt” or in other words a world without God. It is most important that we understand it is impossible to receive God’s truths, let alone live by them if we haven’t come under God’s salvation or redemption. The only redemption available is the cross of Christ.
What we come to understand from Exodus 20, is that God didn’t provide His wisdom or laws to the Israelites to live by until they came out from Egypt. Today we can’t receive God’s truths to live by without His grace which is only available through the cross of Christ.
